Job Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients to designated healthcare facilities within the operational area. This includes adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and the General Operations Manual (GOM), alongside a thorough understanding of Air Methods policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate aircraft safely and legally.
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections to verify airworthiness, documenting findings in the Daily Flight Log.
  • Maintain final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of all passengers and cargo.
  • Ensure familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems, including backup aircraft.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately.
  • Execute detailed flight planning with minimal notice.
  • Engage in regular meetings and community outreach initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Attendance Requirements:
Regular attendance is a fundamental aspect of this position, and all employees are expected to adhere to Air Methods' employment practices and policies.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience.
  • Maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be under 70 years of age.

Skills and Experience:
Applicants must have recent flight experience in the relevant category, with a strong emphasis on maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and external partners. Candidates should possess the following:

  • 2000 total flight hours, with a minimum of 1500 hours in category.
  • 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in category.
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time.
  • 200 hours of cross-country flight time, including night hours.
  • Commercial & Instrument Rating for the category and class of aircraft.
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
