Job Title: Banquet Captain

At North Pacific Management, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team. As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of banquets and events, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee the banquet staff during food and beverage service.
  • Assist management in the operation of the banquet department.
  • Review banquet event orders for schedules of daily functions.
  • Prepare banquet rooms for assigned functions.
  • Prioritize the needs of assigned functions to ensure events are executed properly.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of food and beverage items.
  • Maintain proper service times and pacing.
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working order and report any issues to management.
  • Perform specified opening and closing procedures.
  • At the end of an event, ensure all doors and equipment are locked securely, everything is turned off and properly stowed, and keys are returned.
  • Schedule staff for banquet functions.
  • Prepare and present bills to customers, professionally addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Assist in controlling labor costs through proper scheduling and staff management.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Keep work areas neat and organized.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and immediately report any unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all departments.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications:
  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software and spreadsheet software.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current food handler card and liquor service permit.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

Work Environment:
