Job Summary

Under the direction of the healthcare provider and clinic supervisor, the Medical Assistant is responsible for delivering patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients.

The Medical Assistant performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures. This includes greeting and preparing patients for the healthcare provider, obtaining and recording vital signs, and administering ordered medications and vaccines.

The Medical Assistant also schedules patients for diagnostic testing, communicates test results and plan of care to patients, and prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments and equipment.

Additionally, the Medical Assistant formulates and documents patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
  • Administer ordered medications and vaccines.
  • Schedule patients for diagnostic testing.
  • Communicate test results and plan of care to patients.
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Formulate and document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma (or GED equivalent)
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred but not required
  • CMA certification preferred but not required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 5 days
