PAY RATE: $20.52 - $21.60 Per Hour

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

In this role, you will assist beneficiaries participating in treatment while ensuring the program premises are safe and secure. You will participate in group counseling sessions and crisis management under the supervision of a certified AOD counselor or licensed therapist.

You will also monitor clients' self-administration of prescribed medication and have knowledge of withdrawal symptoms and the ability to assist or call for required aid in crisis situations.

The successful candidate will meet annual registration renewal requirements and submit annual renewal of Registration until Certification is earned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • AOD Counseling:
    • You will learn alcohol and drug counseling functions, including screening, assessment, and intake, under the guidance and supervision of a certified AOD counselor.
    • You will collect specimens from clients for drug and alcohol screening in accordance with our policies and procedures.
    • You will collaborate with case managers and therapists to assist treatment and other plans, assist in required interventions, and participate in group and educational sessions.
    • You will complete discharge and transition plans and complete required Electronic Health Records (EHR).
    • You will monitor client self-administration of prescribed medication, keep required treatment records, and shift reports.
    • You will transport program participants in company vehicles to offsite appointments as needed.
  • PROGRAM SECURITY:
    • You will ensure that only authorized persons enter the program premises by monitoring entrance and surrounding property.
    • You will review and ensure that all beneficiaries leaving or returning to premises sign in and out according to program policy.
  • BAG & PERSON SCREENING:
    • You will search all participants' belongings being brought into the program each time a participant enters, including their pockets, while monitoring for any signs of substance use or bringing contraband into the program.
    • You will monitor premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of the program by walking the floor and monitoring surroundings when outside accompanying beneficiaries and making reports as needed.
  • PROGRAM SAFETY:
    • You will observe program premises to ensure safe operations and report and correct any spills, unsafe working conditions, or defective equipment.
    • You will know the location of fire exits and be prepared to assist participants in case of any emergency.
    • You will monitor clients and conduct room checks; maintain records of client compliance of program rules, report to clinical/case management staff, and assist clinical/case management staff as required.
    • You will call Police or Fire Department in cases of emergency, such as fire, medical, or psychiatric issues, or presence of unauthorized clients/persons.
  • ASSET PROTECTION:
    • You will utilize all limited resources effectively and protect from theft, loss, or damage to the program's assets by reporting all suspicious events to your direct supervisor.
    • You will complete written reports and incident logs of daily activities and irregularities, such as unusual occurrences, equipment, or property damage, theft, and presence of unauthorized persons.
  • ACT AS A ROLE MODEL FOR PARTICIPANTS AT ALL TIMES:
    • You will learn, understand, and practice professionalism expected – put clients'/participants' needs first.
  • CLIENT/PARTICIPANT SUPPORT:
    • You will answer telephones and take messages for clients and staff, monitor doors, and greet visitors.
    • You will maintain office housekeeping; verify all common areas, laundry areas, and restrooms are clean and disinfected and fully operational.
    • You will monitor and record client self-administration of medication in accordance with our policies and procedures.
    • You will assist program staff during provision of services to clients/participants, including meal preparation/serving, set-up for classes, meetings, recreation, and other program events.
  • Inputs required data to computer systems and logs (EHR and other databases as required)
  • Other duties that may arise to support the Program mission and goals

Qualifications:

  • You must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment, and education verifications.
  • You must be able to work flexible schedules especially during evenings and weekends as required.

Education:

  • You must have a High School diploma or GED.
  • You must be registered and in good standing in an Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification program by an approved accrediting organization (CCAPP, CADTP, or CADEE).
  • You must have completed statutory AOD coursework requirements.

Experience:

  • You must have 1 year of experience in mental health or substance abuse treatment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You should have an AA or higher degree in a related field.
  • You should have completed modules 1 and 2 of ASAM.
  • You should have experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • You should be bi-lingual in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
  • You should have an understanding of harm reduction (non-abstinence) approach with participant substance use.
