Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain environments for on-site physical Cloudera clusters, including non-production, production, and BCP/DR.
  • Oversee and support Cloudera services such as HDFS, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive/Impala, YARN, Solr, Kafka, Oozie, and Spark utilizing Cloudera Manager and command-line tools.
  • Implement Cloudera BDR (Backup Data Replication) for HDFS and manage Kafka replication.
  • Collaborate with various systems teams (SysAdmins, Development) to ensure production scalability and stability.
  • Coordinate with systems administrators to deploy new software environments necessary for Hadoop and to enhance existing setups.
  • Provide integration support for tools requiring connectivity to the Hadoop ecosystem, including BI tools, data ingestion tools, and ETL/ELT tools.
  • Monitor the connectivity and security of Hadoop clusters.
  • Possess hands-on experience with SQL (Oracle) and NoSQL databases (HBASE).
  • Develop and refine best practices for the platform.
  • Stay updated with the latest technical advancements and industry best practices in Hadoop, Big Data, and Analytics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in supporting complex, large-scale production environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Linux/UNIX administration, particularly Red Hat Linux.
  • Proficient in administering Cloudera CDP (Cloudera Data Platform).
  • Experience in configuring Kerberos and managing Certificate Keystores.
  • Strong skills in shell scripting and bash.
  • Thorough understanding of Active Directory/LDAP.
  • Experience with system backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Familiarity with virtualization systems.
  • Experience in defining processes for one or more production environments.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Cloudera Certified Administrator (CCA) or Cloudera Certified Professional (CCP) is preferred.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or similar certification is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
