Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the operational functions of the office, establishing effective policies and performance standards.
- Supervise deputy chiefs and assistant medical examiners.
- Conduct and oversee autopsies, ensuring thorough investigations.
- Review and assess daily case evaluations.
- Testify in both civil and criminal court cases.
- Communicate autopsy findings to families, medical professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Engage in the education of new forensic pathologists, residents, and fellows.
- Provide unbiased reviews and consultations on internal cases.
- Manage the budget and financial oversight of the office.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Act as a spokesperson for the office, maintaining relationships with the media and community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD/DO Degree
- Board certification in anatomic and forensic pathology
- Eligibility for medical licensure
- Significant management experience in forensic pathology
