Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pathology Assistant to join our team at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. As a Pathology Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and timely processing of laboratory specimens, including comprehensive macroscopic examination and evaluation of all surgical pathological specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case accessioning, gross description, and sampling of tissue specimens at all levels of complexity
  • Evisceration and prosection of autopsies, compilation and dictation of preliminary autopsy diagnosis
  • Preparation and collection of tissue for special studies, evaluation of and sampling of tissues at time of frozen section
  • Cutting, staining, and cover slipping of frozen section tissue, photographing of surgical autopsy cases
  • Maintaining supplies of gross room/morgue, disposal of old specimens when necessary
  • Identification of and resolution of labeling/identification discrepancies, assisting other gross room staff when appropriate
Requirements
  • Graduate of Accredited Anatomic Pathologist Assistant program
  • ASCP certification
  • Prefer 1-2 years of grossing experience
Work Environment

This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to work weekend days, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
