Job Summary

We are seeking an accomplished Music Industry Professor to join our faculty at Alabama A&M University. This 9-month, full-time position in the Music Program will focus on teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music industry topics, including recording technology, music business, production, and audio engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of music industry courses, develop new curriculum, and update software and equipment as needed
  • Conduct research and scholarly activity/creative works in the music industry
  • Pursue funding or resources for updating equipment and software
  • Advising students, recruiting new students, and participating in program building
  • Collaborate with colleagues and students across the department and university

Requirements:

  • A terminal degree (DMA, PhD) in Music or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment
  • Avid Instructor Certification is mandatory
  • Demonstrable commitment to public engagement and performance record
  • Record of successful teaching/commitment to teaching excellence, and professional experience and research in the music industry
  • Professional and/or creative works supported by a professional and/or creative portfolio

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is $68,250.00 - $80,063.00 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes health care, dental, vision, retirement, deferred compensation plans, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, short and long-term disability, holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
