Position Overview

The Staff Nurse II is a vital member of the healthcare team, primarily responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients in the ICU/CPU setting. This role encompasses the following key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing comprehensive nursing care, ensuring that patient care is both competent and compassionate from the point of admission through to discharge.
  • Maintaining patient safety, comfort, and hygiene while implementing disease prevention and recovery strategies.
  • Effectively responding to both medical and environmental emergencies as they arise.

Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of patient care methodologies, medications, treatments, and general healthcare protocols. Essential skills include:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in delivering basic patient care to a diverse population.
  • Aptitude for interpreting professional literature and technical documentation.
  • Ability to articulate ideas clearly and document activities accurately.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Problem-solving skills in complex situations with limited standardization.

Experience

A minimum of one year of relevant experience in the specialty area is required, with a preference for candidates who have at least two years of experience in adult intensive care, including advanced hemodynamic monitoring.

Education

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Required:

  • Registered Nurse - State Licensure - RN
  • Basic Life Support Certification - BLS

Preferred:

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse - CCRN
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification - NIHSS (to be obtained within two weeks of orientation)

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts and is part-time, with variable days and every other weekend commitment.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is between $74.34 and $100.59 per hour, with variations based on experience, education, and location.
