Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Ottawa County, MI. As a key member of our community mental health services, you will play a vital role in supporting children with serious emotional disturbance and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children using the MichiCANS tool to identify support needs and develop personalized plans.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and community agencies to ensure seamless support and services coordination.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed case records, adhering to Department of Community Health standards and agency procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of clinical documentation, maintaining compliance with MDHHS policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in support needs assessment and coordination.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related human services field.
  • Two years of professional experience in a mental health agency, preferably with a focus on children's services.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good working knowledge of serious emotional disturbance, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, autism, and current supports and services coordination theory and practice.
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and other necessary software programs.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work in an office environment or in the community, with occasional travel to meet with families and community partners.
