Job Summary

This position is a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role in the Primary Care services at the Boston VA Healthcare System. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with the healthcare team, and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing treatments, and documenting patient information.
  • Participate in the pre-planning of care, including huddles and follow-up visits, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Make observations and thoroughly document patient care and responses.
  • Seek assistance and guidance from RNs or medical providers as needed.
  • Adhere to standards of practice and safe technique in preparation and administration of medication.
  • Provide patient and family health education, including self-management, prevention, and wellness approaches.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • Active, full, current, and unrestricted licensure as a Graduate Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduation from a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
  • One year of experience in patient care, preferably in a primary care setting.
Preferred Experience
  • One year of experience in primary care.
Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, day shift. Exact hours to be negotiated with nurse manager.

Compressed/Flexible

May be considered after successful completion of orientation and probationary period.

Telework

May be negotiated on an ad-hoc basis upon successful completion of orientation and probationary period.
