Job Title: Medical Technologist I Clinical Lab

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist I to join our Clinical Lab team at Children's Hospital Colorado. As a Medical Technologist I, you will be responsible for performing laboratory testing and procedures, reporting accurate test results, and ensuring quality control is acceptable. You will work closely with our team to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality laboratory services.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory
  • Report accurate test results, evaluate results for clinical significance and validity, and recognize atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow-up
  • Ensure quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed
  • Troubleshoot equipment and assay performance when results are questionable
  • May teach, train, and/or mentor new employees, students, and other healthcare professionals according to standard operating procedures, when requested
  • May procure blood from patients by venipuncture, fingerstick, or heelstick to obtain blood samples for analysis following age-specific guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution
  • Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent or; certification required within 6 months of eligibility

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to blood/body fluid, and occasional exposure to infectious diseases. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
