Job Overview

Atkinson Andelson Loya Ruud & Romo is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our Construction Law team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling construction contract claims, public and private, and providing expert advice on construction litigation issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construction Contract Claims: Handle construction contract claims, public and private, and provide expert advice on construction litigation issues.
  • Arbitration and Trial Experience: Have experience with arbitration and at least exposure to preparing a case for trial/arbitration, including participating in an arbitration or trial.
  • Construction Law Expertise: Possess knowledge and experience of mechanic's lien, law, stop notices, bid protests, public contract law, prompt payment law, and payment and performance bonds.
  • Construction Claims Expertise: Have knowledge and experience working on construction claims for contract extras, delay damages, impact damages, assessment of liquidated damages, and substantive law surrounding these issues.
  • Alternate Project Delivery Methods: Possess knowledge of alternate project delivery methods.
  • Deposition Experience: Have deposition experience both as a percipient witness and expert witness in the substantive areas of construction claims and law and motion experience involving substantive law and discovery issues.
  • Discovery Planning: Have experience putting together discovery plans and executing same.
  • Excellent Writing Skills: Possess excellent writing skills, including motions, depositions, and letters regarding construction litigation issues.
  • Client Interface: Be able to interface with the client and convey a level of professionalism and competence in terms of both the legal issues and the strategic practical issues in construction litigation.
  • Self-Starter: Be a self-starter and possess excellent follow-through skills.
