Maintenance Worker II Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Worker II to join our team at West Virginia University. As a key member of our Facilities Management Operations and Facilities Management Maintenance Departments, you will play a critical role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our institutional buildings.
This is a full-time position that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with preventative maintenance tasks and working under the direction of a Trades Specialist Lead II in all aspects of skilled work.
- Performing electrical repairs on non-live circuits, installing new and modifying existing piping and equipment, and cleaning and soldering fittings.
- Assisting with general painting duties, including painting walls, ceilings, trim, and furniture using enamel/latex paints with brushes, rollers, and low-pressure sprayers.
- Cleaning and maintaining the interior appearance of all assigned buildings, including classrooms, offices, laboratories, student housing, public areas, etc.
- Collecting and properly disposing of trash and litter throughout buildings and grounds.

RequirementsTo be considered for this position, you must have:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the maintenance field, including completion of vocational/technical training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of building trades, custodial methods, and safety principles.
- Ability to operate a computer and follow OSHA guidelines and associated codes.
