About the Role

The Intellectual Property Group at Nintendo of America is seeking a seasoned Intellectual Property Lawyer to manage our patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios throughout the Americas. As an integral member of our Legal department, you will work closely with Litigation and IP Enforcement teams to resolve IP disputes and enforce against unauthorized use of our IP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and resolve intellectual property disputes, including inbound trademark, copyright, and other in-game issues.
  • Manage domain name acquisitions and worldwide domain name disputes, working closely with internal and external IP professionals.
  • Perform IP clearance activities to determine trademark filing strategies.
  • Collaborate with IP enforcement teams to register IP, including customs, online marketplaces, and other agencies.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with business teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Stay current on industry standards, laws, and regulations related to intellectual property.
  • Provide legal advice to Nintendo's parent company, subsidiaries, and departments.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience as a practicing intellectual property lawyer in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Basic technical knowledge of video game hardware and software.
  • Strong experience in protecting musical works and sound recordings is a plus.
  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job family or field.
  • Excellent drafting and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of outstanding achievement and accomplishment.
  • Law degree required.
  • Membership in the Washington State Bar Association or comparable state qualification.

What We Offer

This role includes a base salary range of $164,500-$296,000 annually, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
