Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for members and participants in the pool area. The successful candidate will be a team player who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of situational awareness.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular scans of the pool area to identify potential hazards and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Enforce pool safety rules and regulations, including the "zero tolerance" policy for member safety.
  • Perform equipment checks and ensure that all necessary rescue equipment is available and in good working order.
  • Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain effective relationships with members, participants, and staff.
Requirements
  • Current YMCA lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding certification.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer & AED certification.
  • Basic First Aid certification.
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
  • Demonstrated lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
