We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluating patients' physical, perceptual, cognitive, social, and vocational abilities and their impact on daily living activities.
- Identify factors affecting patients' physical and psychosocial comfort and address these needs.
- Implement individualized treatment plans to retrain and teach compensatory techniques for residual disabilities in daily living activities, adapted homemaking techniques, bathroom transfers, functional application of mobility skills, and adapted work methods.
- Monitor and notify the supervising therapist of patients' responses to treatment.
- Plan for patient discharge, including providing written home programs, patient/family teaching, and ordering equipment with the direction of the evaluating/supervising therapist.
- Complete all required documentation, including patient progress notes, team conference reports, discharge summaries, and records of patient care and progress.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Occupational Therapy Assistant license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
- Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- No experience required.
This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, and squat throughout the workday. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 10 lbs. from waist to overhead, and lift and carry up to 40 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance. The position also requires pushing/pulling with 30 lbs. of force, performing a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present, and repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
