About the Role

Graham Windham is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Advocate to join our team at the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the day-to-day operation of the FEC, providing concrete advocacy for community members, supporting resource acquisition, and co-designing and delivering offerings that promote individual, family, and community well-being and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with community members, build trusting connections, and follow up on concerns and requests.
  • Co-create opportunities, activities, and offerings with the O.U.R. Place Community, identifying resources and providing in-person individual coaching using an Appreciative Inquiry approach.
  • Establish partnerships with community partners, ensuring families receive services that address their needs, and connect community members to resources and support.
  • Represent the FEC at community events and meetings, building relationships with community partners and co-creating with the FEC Advisory Council to understand community interest in offerings.
  • Co-lead offerings in response to community priorities, including leading Community Cafés using the Strengthening Families model and providing regular documentation reflecting FEC planning and activities.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in social work, public policy, education, public administration, or a related field.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/Creole/French/English) and lived or worked in the South Bronx.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to connect with and engage individuals, families, community members, and partner organizations, and technologically competent.
  • Experience running community outreach events, developing community partnerships, and developing community resources, with a plus in political campaigns, event planning, street outreach, and/or developing community supports and services, community organizing.
