HSE Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented HSE Technician to join our Plastics HSE team at Brightmark. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the protection of people and the environment.

• Maintain, correct, and revise all health, safety, and environmental procedures and plans for the site, ensuring compliance with OSHA, IOSHA, IDEM, EPA, NFPA, and other regulatory bodies.
• Conduct audits and inspections on various equipment, grounds, PPE, and other areas to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Provide and/or facilitate HSE training as needed, focusing on skill-based and new hire training.
• Enter HSE data and corrective actions, including near misses, audits, inspections, and other relevant information.
• Maintain SDS for all areas and perform site-level and area risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions and controls.
• Support MOC, PSM, and permitting processes, including Safe Work Permits and CSE.
• Participate in daily standup meetings and deploy HSE initiatives to support a Zero Incident Culture.
• Maintain electronic HSE systems and support the HSE Committee and various site teams.
• Perform related administrative responsibilities as needed.

• 4+ years of experience working in Health, Safety, and Environmental programs.
• Proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to both large and small groups.
• Ability to problem-solve and lead by example.
• Organized and detail-oriented with a strong focus on compliance.
• Previous HSE Compliance experience dealing with high-hazard sites is preferred.
• Experience managing various permit types and oil and gas and/or chemical manufacturing experience are also preferred.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification is a plus.
