Position Summary:
As a Youth Transportation Specialist, you will ensure safe and reliable transit for children to and from various program locations, fostering a nurturing and encouraging environment. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the bus in accordance with YMCA standards and local regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily, documenting all necessary information including fuel levels, mileage, and maintenance records. Ensure the bus is clean and well-maintained.
- Maintain a fully stocked first aid kit to promote safety.
- Communicate and enforce bus rules to ensure a safe travel experience.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, volunteers, parents, and children.
- Engage in regular communication with team members and supervisors.
- Be adaptable to work at various locations and adjust your schedule as required by the organization.
- Complete all necessary training as per organizational standards.
- Work flexible hours and locations to meet the needs of the organization.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by management.
Requirements:
- At least one year of experience as a CDL bus driver.
- Must possess a Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement at the time of hiring.
- Familiarity with regulations governing commercial passenger vehicles.
- Certification in CPR/AED & First Aid from recognized organizations required within 30 days of employment.
- Passion and capability to work effectively with children.
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
- Ability to operate a bus safely for extended periods.
- Capacity to respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Visual and auditory skills to recognize and react to environmental hazards.
