We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Developmental & Behavioral Clinic team at Albany Medical Center. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, triage, assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care plans.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, including obtaining and recording vital signs, reporting abnormal values to treating providers, and rooming patients according to departmental guidelines.
- Patient Triage: Conduct patient triage, both in-person and telephonically, to assess patient needs and prioritize care.
- Assessment and Planning: Obtain and document patient histories, perform focused physical assessments, and develop patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments to patients in the clinic, under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
- Procedure Participation: Participate in in-office procedures, as related to the clinic specialty, under the direction and supervision of a physician or APP, and document results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Test Result Review and Triage: Review and triage incoming test results, patient requests, and pharmacy renewals, and facilitate call-backs to patients as necessary.
- Scheduling: Assist in scheduling patients for both in-person and telehealth visits.
- Nurse Visits: Participate in nurse visits, including medication review, education, and follow-up, as well as patient and parent education.
- Quality Metrics: Contribute to Facility (Albany Medical Center), New York State, and National Quality data metrics by facilitating the utilization of resources to meet patient outcomes.
- Task Delegation: Delegate tasks deemed appropriate per licensure of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and/or Medical Assistant (MA).
- Compliance: Adhere to Albany Medical Center's regulatory agency (The Joint Commission) and internal compliance policies.
- Staff Orientation and Education: Orient and educate newly hired staff, and complete continuous/annual education related to the clinic specialty to maintain knowledge base on current practices.
- Patient Education: Provide education to patients related to their visit and overall health and wellness.
- Education: Associate's degree from a state-accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Licensure: Current RN licensure to practice professional nursing in New York State.
- Certification: Current CPR certification required; certification in specialty, Ambulatory setting preferred.
- Skills: Excellent customer service and communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, patients, and their family members or other employees within the work setting.
- Computer Skills: Familiarity with computer software, including MS Word and Excel; experience with electronic health records preferred.
- Medication Administration: Ability to give medications via all routes and ability to calculate medication doses.
