Overview

Baylor Scott & White Health is a leading healthcare system committed to improving the health of those we serve. We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for our PRN team in College Station, TX.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $55,000 - $65,000 based on industry standards and location. Our competitive benefits package includes immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits, 401(k) savings plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%, tuition reimbursement, and PTO accrual beginning Day 1.

Job Summary

The MLS performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and research with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Following quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures
  • Maintaining effective communication and working relationships with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • An ASCP certification in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Cytogenetics, Cytology, Hematology, Histocompatibility, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or Specialist credentials from an accredited agency
  • At least 2 years of Generalist experience in a laboratory setting, including Blood Bank
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with varying shifts, including PRN hours.
