Position Summary:

The registered nurse responsible for conducting urodynamics assessments to patients to evaluate specific functions of the urinary system at Urology America, MSO.

Professional Relationships:

  • Reports to the Site Manager, CEO, and/or physicians of the Practice
  • Collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, staff, and patients to ensure comprehensive and exceptional patient care
  • Works alongside front office and scheduling personnel as necessary to facilitate efficient patient scheduling

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Texas
  • Non-Certified Radiological Technician license
  • Preferred clinical expertise in urology surgical nursing
  • Required experience in urology
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a staff nurse in urodynamics
  • Equivalent of two (2) years experience in surgical office-based nursing, emergency room, or operating room nursing
  • Ability to apply sound clinical judgment while interacting tactfully and effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrates flexibility, cooperation, and support in working with all employees and physicians at Urology America, MSO

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a patient advocate, ensuring a setting that safeguards the rights of the patient and provides an environment that maintains their physical and mental well-being, safety, and dignity.
  • Exhibits knowledge of anatomy and physiology, patient care standards as dictated by the nursing licensing board of the State of Texas, and standard knowledge of basic CPT and ICD-9 coding.
  • Under the supervision of the physician, responsible for the appropriate use of materials, records, and equipment while performing assigned duties and maintaining patient records.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies necessary for urodynamics procedures. Conducts urodynamics testing for both female and male patients. Continuously monitors patients' status and equipment functionality. Provides post-assessment follow-up to the patient.
  • Under physician supervision, communicates urodynamics testing results and findings to the referring physician promptly and ensures they are informed of significant information.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals regarding unusual circumstances and seeks assistance as needed.
  • This position may include cross-training in other functions or roles to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic or to allow for flexible staffing assignments.
  • Coordinates with clinic supply personnel or completes orders for all materials necessary for daily urodynamics testing operations.
  • Assists in vendor selection for new equipment based on clinic needs.
  • Accurately documents and maintains records of telephone interactions and on-site patient conversations, including chief complaints, verbal history of present illness with date of onset, symptoms such as pain, bleeding, and retention assessment, updates on medications and allergies, and limited physical examinations, adhering to the scope of practice guidelines of the State of Texas.
  • Conveys pertinent information to physicians and staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Under the supervision of the physician and/or advanced practice provider, communicates practitioner assessments and treatment plans to patients or designated family members, adhering to the scope of practice guidelines of the State of Texas.
  • Engages with new patients to explain the urodynamics test and addresses patient inquiries using the nursing process as a guide for actions.
  • Documents relevant information in medical records and forwards pertinent notes to physicians and/or advanced practice providers for review and signature, as well as to referring physicians.
  • Instructs patients on procedures, studies, and consultations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Exhibits knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Maintains clinical and administrative confidentiality within the practice and the community.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
