Job Overview
This role offers a rewarding opportunity for an experienced nursing professional to join our Radiology department, providing top-notch care to patients undergoing various imaging procedures. The Imaging Nurse Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our imaging services, working closely with radiologists, technicians, and other healthcare staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Education: Provide comprehensive education to patients undergoing cardiovascular stress tests, stereotactic breast biopsies, and other special procedures, addressing their needs and concerns.
- Procedure Support: Assist radiologists during complex procedures, such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, joint injections, fine needle aspirations, biopsies, etc., setting up equipment and maintaining a safe environment.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular quality control checks on defibrillators and maintain accurate logs, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally.
- Patient Care: Monitor patients' vital signs and status before, during, and after procedures, administering pharmacological drugs as directed by physicians and providing essential care instructions.
- Clinical Documentation: Accurately document patient records, including IV access and infiltration sites, medication lists, and any clinical occurrences, ensuring seamless communication among healthcare teams.
- Maintenance and Quality Improvement: Participate in regular meetings, provide in-services, and engage in ongoing quality improvement initiatives to enhance imaging services and promote best practices.
- Patient Flow Management: Coordinate hospital imaging services, facilitating efficient patient flow throughout the facility and collaborating with outside providers when necessary.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Nursing Experience: Previous experience in imaging or outpatient nursing, preferably with experience in administering stress tests.
- Licensure and Certifications: Current RN license to practice in NC, current CPR certification within 1 month of hire, ACLS certification within the orientation period, and PALS certification within the orientation period.
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
