The Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks a seasoned regulatory law expert to join its Division of Insurance as Deputy General Counsel.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will provide legal advice and representation to the Commissioner of Insurance and senior division staff in complex areas of insurance regulation, reinsurance, licensing, administrative supervision, and enforcement actions. Key responsibilities include reviewing legal documents for sufficiency, assisting with departmental administration, formulating policy, overseeing investigations, conducting adjudicatory proceedings, and coordinating takeovers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Massachusetts insurance law and public records laws
  • General management skills and ability to motivate staff
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and develop client-focused solutions

Salary Range:

$95,982 - $135,000 per year
