Job Title: Alaska TDY Physical Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist to join our team at Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Alaska.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide high-quality outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care to patients of all ages and diagnoses within the State of Alaska's physical therapy scope of practice. They will incorporate evidenced-based medicine into patient plans of care and exemplify professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide full-time, quality outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care to patients of all ages and diagnoses.
  • Incorporate evidenced-based medicine into patient plans of care.
  • Exemplify professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Modify patient care plans appropriately, using age-specific and patient-specific considerations.
  • Support the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation's mission statement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an Accredited program in Physical Therapy.
  • No minimum clinical experience required, but hospital-based experience is helpful.
  • Licensed in good standing in Alaska as a Physical Therapist, or have all appropriate FSBPT paperwork completed to work as a Student Physical Therapist post-graduation while studying to take the licensure exam.
  • Current BLS certification.
Work Environment:

The Physical Therapist will work in a Standard Physical Therapy Department environment, which includes hi-lo tables, whirlpools, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electric stimulation modalities. In village-based settings, the therapist will bring out necessary equipment for patient care.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physical therapy periodicals and medical literature.
  • Ability to compose patient care documentation and medical correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff, peers, and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of a different culture who may or may not speak English.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, including basic MS Office programs and email.
  • Ability to utilize the internet to access medical literature beneficial to patient care.
