Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Network Engineer SME to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installs new releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves network-related problems.
  • Performs network system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure network integrity.
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Experienced in executing sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and works under general supervision.
  • Network documentation and VISIO knowledge.
  • Analyzes network access trends and resolves bandwidth management issues for mission-critical systems.
  • Implements, troubleshoots, monitors, and maintains all aspects of LAN/WAN/VPN networks for high availability of parallel development, testing, and production environments.
  • Reviews SNMP alerts, uses protocol-line analyzers (sniffers), and conducts log forensics to determine root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues.
  • Collaborates with software and database developers, Windows and Linux server administrators, and security personnel to analyze requirements, troubleshoot anomalies, and determine appropriate firewall configuration implementation.
  • Drafts and submits recommended change request proposals necessary for timely mitigation of POA&Ms and CVE findings.
  • Maintains system compliance with DHS/FISMA IT Security and Information Assurance objectives concerning privacy of passenger screening information.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 10-12 years of systems administration, network engineering, and systems automation experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline (Education can be substituted for 4 years of experience).
  • Candidate should be a proactive self-starter with exceptional follow-up skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks, to prioritize competing priorities, work under a cross-matrix management structure, required to be on-call and respond in a timely manner, should be a quick learner, must be able to adapt to quickly evolving technology and priority changes, have a desire to work closely with other members of the IT/development team.
  • Experience in conducting assessments at an Enterprise level, reviewing technical documentation, conducting interviews and workshops, identifying gaps, and developing tailored solutions.
  • Experience developing, configuring, and delivering COTS solutions in support of enterprise IT infrastructure design (e.g., network, storage, virtualization, database, 3rd party tools).
  • Experience in assessing Security findings identified by tools like Tenable, Burp, AppScan.
Hardware Requirements:
  • Firewalls: Cisco 4100 Firepower/Firepower Threat Defense, Cisco Firepower Management Center, IDS/IPS, Juniper SRX/JUNOS.
  • Switching: Catalyst 9000 Series switches, Cisco 3850/3750X/3560X, Cisco NX-OS switches.
  • Load balancers: F5 LTM/GTM.
  • Familiar with: SolarWinds, Wireshark, Splunk.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional level certifications from Cisco, Juniper, or other vendors.
  • Network Automation.
  • Routing experience to include static routes, EIGRP, and route redistribution.
  • Switching experience to include understanding of virtual port-channels (vPC aka MEC), spanning tree, first hop redundancy protocols, and security best practices.
  • Experience with firewall concepts and configurations to include creating/modifying access control lists, network/port address translation, and virtual private networks.
  • Experience with load balancing concepts and configurations to include layer4/layer7, SSL offloading, and health monitoring.
  • Monitoring of all network components via SolarWinds.
Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Active DOD Secret clearance and ability to obtain agency suitability clearance.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain stationary up to 75% of the time in an office environment.
  • Must be able to traverse between one work location to another to accomplish work duties.
  • Must be able to operate IT equipment such as a computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to exchange information accurately.
  • Must be able to read, review, and effectively respond to electronic as well as verbal communications.

This position supports an IT operations environment. Candidates may need to support work on nights and weekends and may be included in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Currently, the contract work location requirement is to work in the office at the customer's site once weekly at a minimum. This is subject to change.

The projected compensation range for this position is $122,600-$204,200. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
