Avionics Installation Technician Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and repair complex avionics systems, troubleshoot electrical systems, and perform inspections on sophisticated civilian aircraft.
  • Remove and install panels, components, and interiors, as well as repair work on avionics installations.
  • Stamp, bundle, and install connectors on wiring, and remove old wiring and install new wire bundles in aircraft.
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate avionics systems on the aircraft, and inspect and evaluate aircraft and components when designated.
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in hangar stack when required, and maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases, and work within a team process and work independently on projects when required.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate in English, and perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Requirements:
  • A High school diploma or equivalent, and electronics or avionics training is preferred.
  • 1+ years' experience working with electrical/avionics systems is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment, and attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work, and have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, and follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits, and other particulars including physical and mental requirements.
Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot, and work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft, and equipment used including personal hand tools, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment, jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices, tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment, and crimpers, soldering iron, and heat guns.
