Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Care, the Patient Bill of Rights, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Deliver care according to specialty-specific standards, such as those from the Oncology Nurses Association and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, as applicable.
  • Evaluate, plan, implement, and assess the patient care plan in response to evolving healthcare needs.
  • Conduct patient education assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation using suitable educational resources.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities through mentorship, effective communication, and role modeling. Assume charge nurse duties as designated.
  • Delegate and supervise the activities of ancillary staff (LPNs, PCAs, Technicians, Unit Secretaries, etc.) while adhering to the NJ Scope of Practice guidelines.
  • Promote a professional practice environment by serving as a role model and resource, and participate in the orientation of new nursing staff.
  • Engage in unit-based and organization-wide initiatives, committees, and community outreach as appropriate.
  • Identify personal learning needs related to nursing practice and seek educational opportunities to address these needs.
  • Utilize Evidence-Based Practice literature, policy manuals, and other reference materials to ensure accuracy and consistency in care delivery.
  • Actively participate in the Performance Improvement process to assess the quality of nursing care provided to patients.

Educational Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a current New Jersey nursing license required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Newly licensed graduates will be considered.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of current clinical experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in New Jersey required upon hire.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • National certification related to specialty area preferred upon hire.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support may be required based on specialty area.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support may be required based on specialty area.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation may be required based on specialty area.
