Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team at Tesla, specializing in deep learning and generative modeling. As a key member of our Autopilot team, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing large-scale generative models that power our self-driving technology.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and train cutting-edge large generative models, including diffusion models, VAEs, autoregressive models, and GANs
  • Optimize model performance through improved training techniques and methods such as semi-supervised learning and unsupervised pre-training
  • Collaborate with other experts in deep learning, infrastructure, and distributed computing to ensure the efficient and scalable training of large generative models
Requirements
  • Demonstrable track record in developing and training large generative models, including infrastructure challenges, optimizing the efficiency of the training process, and tuning the model for best performance
  • Proficiency in Python and a strong foundation in software engineering best practices
  • Deep understanding of deep learning fundamentals, encompassing in-depth knowledge of layer details, loss functions, and optimization techniques
  • Proficiency in implementing neural network architectures tailored for generative modeling
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with standard scientific computing primitives, including batched operations, grid sampling, scatter/gathering, and einsum
  • Strong expertise in system-level knowledge, enabling you to optimize the training and evaluation processes efficiently and effectively, is preferred
