Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Surgical Technician, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in supporting the mission and vision of our organization by assisting in the delivery of safe and effective nursing care within the operating room. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing direct patient care and observation.
  • Scrubbing and assisting the surgeon during procedures.
  • Managing surgical room turnover between cases.
  • Collecting and documenting relevant clinical data in the medical record.
  • Collaborating consistently with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit the necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of a surgical technician, in line with the standards set by the Association of Surgical Technologists.
  • Prepare the operating suite for surgery by verifying and gathering necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Maintain surgical asepsis during the handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings.
  • Assist in the turnover of operating room suites between cases, including waste disposal and cleaning of equipment and surfaces.
  • Prepare the procedure room for the following day by organizing equipment, setting up, and accurately pulling cases while reporting any needed items to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program as required by facility practice and state regulations; otherwise preferred.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technician.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center.
  • Valid BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable).
