Neonatal Care Hospitalist

The Department of Pediatrics at University Hospitals is actively seeking Newborn Hospitalists to enhance our commitment to exceptional patient care. Successful candidates will hold an academic position within the Division of Hospital Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, with potential appointments ranging from Clinical Instructor to full Professor based on qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Be present for all high-risk labor and delivery calls, including deliveries throughout the hospital in accordance with NRP protocols.
- Conduct nursery rounds by 11am unless faced with urgent situations or high patient volume.
- Consult and oversee the care of ill newborns admitted under private pediatricians.
- Engage in prenatal consultations alongside the Neonatologist at the main campus.
- Facilitate transfers to advanced care facilities for critically ill newborns.
- Take part in and lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing maternal and infant care, and attend relevant OB and Pediatric Quality meetings.
- Contribute to Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby staff training, including team-building exercises and mock emergency scenarios.
- Educate residents on newborn care and roles in the delivery room.
- Collaborate with various hospital departments to ensure comprehensive care for newborns.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for academic engagement.
Qualifications
- Board certification or eligibility in general pediatrics is mandatory.
- Proven experience and proficiency in managing sick newborns is essential.
- Certification in the National Resuscitation Program is required.
- Experience in quality improvement initiatives is preferred.
