Job Title: Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychologist to join our team at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. As a Psychologist, you will play a critical role in providing mental health services to juveniles assigned to our Youth Development Center and/or Juvenile Detention Center.

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide mental health services, including mental status examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and behavioral assessments. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing individual and group psychotherapy plans, as well as providing crisis intervention and direct counseling services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct mental health screenings and assessments for new admissions
  • Develop and implement individual and group psychotherapy plans
  • Provide crisis intervention and direct counseling services
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Document progress and outcomes of treatment
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must possess a doctoral degree in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-accredited institution. You must also be eligible for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with adolescents in crisis, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with administrative supervisors, clients, and their families, care providers, and various organizational partners. Working knowledge of cognitive-behavioral based treatment and intervention techniques.
