Position Overview

The PCBC Day School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Lead Teacher for Pre-K 2's and 3's. This role involves working with young children in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Texas Minimum Standards for early childhood education.
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR and first aid, renewing every two years.
  • Obtain and keep a valid Food Handlers certification updated every two years.
  • Implement Positive Guidance and Discipline Methods as per Texas regulations.
  • Develop and modify lesson plans based on curriculum guidelines and student assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Day School Director to effectively deliver the school curriculum.
  • Engage children in outdoor activities, promoting physical development through games and exploration.
  • Support the PreK-3's lead teacher by documenting student progress and behavior.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, providing insights into their child's academic journey and available resources.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends in early childhood education through professional literature.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and a positive demeanor while interacting with children.
  • Foster respectful relationships with both children and adults.
  • Prepare classrooms with necessary supplies and resources at the beginning of each day.
  • Document significant incidents and communicate with the Day School Director as necessary.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using technology for lesson planning and online learning.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, actively engaging with students.
  • Physical capability to stoop, crouch, and lift children as needed.
  • Occasional lifting of 20-40 pounds for classroom setup and activities.
  • Work primarily indoors with opportunities for outdoor learning, adapting to varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to manage diverse learning styles and behaviors among young children and collaborate with families and colleagues.
