We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Sonora Quest. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform waived and non-waived tests in an accurate and timely manner, with supervision.
- Assist with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
- Collect, receive, and process biological specimens into the laboratory.
- Perform testing in an accurate and timely manner, according to established policies and performance standards.
- Exercise independent judgment and identify appropriate resources in performance of assigned duties.
- Recognize and ensure validity of abnormal patient and/or QC results for testing.
- Participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.
- Ensure the appropriate use of supplies and materials and assist with inventory management.
- Communicate courteously, professionally, effectively, and accurately with internal and external customers.
- Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility).
- Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR.
- Meet other criteria defined in 42CFR or 42CFR including US military medical laboratory procedures training courses.
- MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.
