Position Summary:
The Senior Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial record-keeping, reporting, and overall accounting responsibilities for the Hill CDC and its resources. This position is vital for the organization’s operational integrity and future advancement. The distribution of responsibilities is approximately as follows:
- Accounting, Financial Services, and Grant Oversight: 85%

Accounting, Financial Services, and Grant Oversight: 85%
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Operations and Finance, President and CEO, and consulting personnel to ensure the successful completion of annual audits and financial reports.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive financial records to monitor the organization’s assets, liabilities, and overall financial performance.
- Oversee all accounting-related functions, including budgeting, annual audits, and the effective use of financial data to improve operational efficiencies.
- Generate monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintain the general ledger and perform bookkeeping and cost accounting tasks.
- Code invoices, establish new accounts, and finalize monthly financial records.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, verify deposits, confirm payroll, and respond to banking inquiries.
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collections.
- Verify and process payments for accounts payable, ensuring accurate account allocations.
- Negotiate with vendors and follow up on payment plans.
- Assist external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for annual audits.
- Work with management to allocate expenses appropriately for new and existing grants.
- Produce grant reports promptly upon request and present monthly summaries.
- Account for and report on all capital campaign contributions accurately.
- File tax forms with relevant federal, state, and local agencies.
- Coordinate with software vendors to maintain and enhance accounting software systems.
- Manage the purchasing and invoicing processes.
- Stay informed about acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Collaborate with senior consultants to meet the financial and reporting needs of the organization.
- Utilize financial data to enhance operational and administrative efficiency.
- Support leadership in budget operationalization.
- Oversee and complete the annual audit process for related entities.
- Recommend effective financial strategies for the ongoing growth of the Hill CDC.
- Interface with third-party accounting firms as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Administrative Duties: 5%
- Coordinate and oversee assigned functions and consultants, enhancing the efficiency of support services such as IT, accounting, and finance.
- Ensure proper management and renewal of critical organizational documents, contracts, and insurance.
- Design and implement risk management practices across various areas, particularly regarding properties and compliance.
- Maintain organized access to contracts and legal documents essential for a high-functioning non-profit.
- Manage vendor contracts and payments.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Human Resource Functions: 5%
- Assist senior staff with HR Information Systems and technology-based HR solutions.
- Research and propose HR solutions that align with the organization’s financial performance.
- Support payroll, benefits, and HR practices maintenance.
Technology and Information Systems: 5%
- Ensure the functionality and accuracy of accounting and financial software.
- Participate in the implementation of software and technology solutions organization-wide.
- Support the adoption of property-related technology solutions as needed.
Qualifications:

- Expertise in QuickBooks Advanced.

- Familiarity with tax and compliance standards for 501(c)3 non-profits.
- Comfortable working in a diverse environment.
Working Conditions:
- Standard working hours with occasional evening or weekend commitments for organizational events.
- Use of a personal vehicle may be necessary.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Compensation:
- Salary range of $55,000 to $65,000, based on experience and qualifications.
- Bi-weekly payment schedule.
- Comprehensive insurance coverage for medical, vision, and dental (80% employer-funded for employee).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
- A minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience, including at least one year in public accounting.
- CPA designation is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Capability to lift and carry files, such as banker’s boxes.
