Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain vigilant surveillance of patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs, notifying nursing staff of any changes as per clinical orders and departmental protocols.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and accurately document findings in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate effectively with nursing personnel regarding changes in patient status.
- Provide orientation and mentorship to new staff members, serving as a resource for training and troubleshooting.
- Prepare reports for incoming shifts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a formal training program in allied health or a related healthcare field is essential.
- One year of recent, full-time patient care experience may substitute for formal training.
- Completion of an EKG/Cardiac Monitoring course is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.
Work Environment:
This position requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. You will need to manage multiple tasks accurately while maintaining focus on a large number of patients.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work under moderate pressure, with long periods of sitting and monitoring computer screens. Visual acuity is necessary for observing cardiac monitor data.
