Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Alice Manor in Baltimore. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will play a critical role in helping patients regain their range of motion, manage their pain, and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Physical Therapy Treatment: Administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability under plan of care driven by Physical Therapist.
  • Review Patient Data: Review's physician's referral and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate appropriately and clearly to charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Enter and Verify Orders: Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
  • Test and Measure Patient's Strength: Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
  • Plan and Prepare Treatment Program: Plans and prepares written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data.
  • Administer Manual Exercises: Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
  • Administer Treatments: Administers treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment, such as hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist pack, ultraviolet and infrared lamps and ultrasound machines.
  • Evaluate Treatment Effects: Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Administer Massage and Traction: Administers massage, and traction to relieve pain.
  • Record Patient Progress: Records, treatment, response, and progress in patients charts.
  • Instruct Patients and Families: Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Orient and Instruct Assistants: Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants and aides.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited PTA program. Current PTA license in good standing. One year of experience as PTA in healthcare setting. Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
