Job Title: Diagnosis Coding Specialist

McFarland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Diagnosis Coding Specialist to join its team in Ames. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and complete coding of patient records, adhering to ICD-10-CM guidelines and Risk Adjustment regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and code medical records to ensure accurate and complete coding
  • Apply ICD-10-CM guidelines and Risk Adjustment regulations to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to improve documentation and coding practices
  • Develop and maintain a productive and collaborative coding optimization process
  • Ensure documentation supports ICD-10-CM codes assigned according to standards
Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of progressive coding experience
  • Preferred two years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties, HCC Risk adjustment
  • Clinical or medical office related experience preferred
  • Experience in chart auditing preferred
  • Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record systems preferred
