Job Description:

BUILD Chicago, a nationally recognized gang intervention, violence prevention, and youth development organization, is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Mobile Mental Health Crisis Specialist. As a critical component of our Mobile Mental Health Program, this role will provide emotional support and services to youth and families impacted by community violence.

About the Position:

The successful candidate will work closely with our Manager of Mobile Mental Health to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate options and services required to meet the client's service plan needs and goals. This may involve connecting clients with essential resources, such as mental health care, medical care, legal services, victim's rights, and compensation, as well as providing emotional support navigating the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities:

  • Connect violence-exposed youth and their families with comprehensive services that promote healing, foster life-skills, and prevent high-risk behaviors.
  • Advocate for victims of crime and their immediate families in problem situations.
  • Organize community outreach events to distribute information about our services.
  • Maintain relationships with various partners, including schools, government agencies, community-based organizations, and internal program partners.
  • Document day-to-day activity and collect data to report back to supervisors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited college or university.
  • 1-2 years' experience working with inner-city youth/families impacted by community violence or the criminal justice system.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a mid-size cargo van.
