Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, competent, and quality care to Emergency Room patients based on nursing theory and research.
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments, including interviews, examinations, observations, and reviews of patient records.
- Develop and implement goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with patients and their significant others.
- Ensure nursing actions are consistent with care plans, medical regimens, and hospital procedures.
- Demonstrate a high level of technical skill, reflecting scientific knowledge, judgment, and technical skills of professional nursing.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and professional practice, collaborating with healthcare team members and adhering to institutional policies and regulatory agency requirements.
- Coordinate patient care activities, prioritizing tasks, including teaching, rounding, counseling, and discharge planning, and delegate tasks appropriately to team members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- Documented previous experience or educational preparation to support credentials.
- Relevant clinical competence in the area of nursing practice.
- Special skills or experience may be required in specialized areas.
- Registered Nurse License and current registration in New York State.
- BCLS/ACLS/PALS certification required (American Heart Association).
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience and previous emergency and/or critical care experience in a hospital setting.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Certification and EKG skills required.
- Special skills or experience required in the Emergency Room, including remote telemetry, arrhythmia interpretation and treatment, cardiac arrest intervention, pain management, disease management, IV antiarrhythmic drug administration, EKG interpretation, IV therapy, IV/phlebotomy, remote telemetry, triage experience, and ability to work well in a stressful environment.
Compensation:
The Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $55.55 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
