Role Summary:
The Materials Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials within our manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Senior Materials Manager, this position oversees the production scheduler, production coordinator, and purchasing coordinator. The primary focus will be on collaborating with inventory, warehouse, and production teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, coordinate production schedules, and ensure timely material procurement to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and implement process enhancements within materials management and production scheduling.
- Establish best practices and standard operating procedures to optimize operations and boost efficiency.
- Continuously assess key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate performance and promote ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Manage the procurement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, components, and finished products.
- Collaborate with the inventory team to create and execute inventory control strategies that optimize levels while minimizing costs.
- Engage with suppliers to ensure timely material delivery and address any supply chain challenges.
- Monitor inventory and production schedules to forecast material needs and avert shortages or excesses.
- Work alongside production teams to develop and maintain accurate production schedules aligned with customer demand and inventory status.
- Effectively allocate resources to achieve production targets while minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
- Adjust production schedules as necessary to accommodate urgent orders, material shortages, or demand fluctuations.
- Provide leadership to the team, establishing clear performance expectations and offering ongoing feedback and coaching to support professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, quality assurance, and procurement, to ensure alignment of objectives and priorities.
- Partner with the Senior Materials Manager and other stakeholders to devise and implement strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing materials management processes and driving operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in materials management or production planning within a manufacturing context.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of effectively managing and developing teams.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Comprehensive understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration across various departments and organizational levels.
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of sitting, up to 50% of the time.
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment, involving multiple daily transactions.
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 60 pounds.
