X-Ray Technologist Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations to help diagnose or decide the optimal procedure for patients.
  • Create a comfortable and calming environment for patients to ensure they adhere to examination instructions.
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing radiographic procedures and operating related equipment.
  • Greet patients, obtain medical history, and enter information into our computer system.
  • Provide excellent patient care, protecting patients from excessive radiation and observing vital signs during examinations.
  • Offer instruction and mentoring to new hires and maintain CPR certification.
  • Ensure compliance with Standards of Care, facility, and regulatory requirements, as well as ARRT Standards of Ethics.
  • Maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations and provide a positive patient experience.
  • Submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation for additional image acquisition and perform quality assurance on images and equipment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to use our department's computerized system and its associated devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine.
  • 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and employees.
Physical Demands:
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions for equipment operation.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films.
