Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at American Civil Contractors. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks, fueling equipment, and performing minor repairs on a variety of heavy equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on assigned equipment, following manufacturer recommendations and guidelines.
  • Fuel equipment as needed, ensuring daily services do not impede production work on job sites.
  • Inspect equipment during daily services, reporting any deficiencies to the Equipment Manager promptly.
  • Take oil samples at designated intervals and submit them for analysis.
  • Maintain records of daily services, hour meter readings, and equipment condition.
  • Perform minor repairs as directed by the Equipment Manager.
  • Provide own hand tools to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Observe all shop safety practices and report any injuries or occupationally related illnesses immediately.
  • Report probable cases of operator negligence or abuse to the Shop Foreman.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean and orderly fashion, ensuring sufficient stock levels of fluids and filters.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a valid commercial Driver's License (Class B with HAZMAT endorsement) and updated medical certifications.
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment preventative maintenance practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, brake, and drive train systems.
  • Knowledge of shop safety practices and proper equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
