Job Summary

The Medical Assistant Ambulatory Float is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of patients through our health care setting. This role requires a culturally sensitive and customer-focused individual who can facilitate examination and treatment of patients with exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule tests, obtain films and reports, and prepare laboratory specimens according to policy.
  • Assist physicians and/or nurses with special procedures and examinations as defined on competency checklist.
  • Collaborate with members of the health care team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care.
  • Electronically submit, call, and/or fax prescriptions and refills to outpatient pharmacies.
  • Maintain medical records, ensuring all required documentation is available in the medical record.
  • Perform clerical duties such as greeting patients, registration, scheduling, pre-certification of tests, procedures, and medications.
  • Perform simple procedures as directed by the nurse or physician and as defined on the competency checklist.
  • Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and document in medical record.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • At least 3 years of a combination of Medical Assistant, Health Care Associate, or clinic office job-related job experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 14 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic typing and word processing skills
