About the Job

The University of California, Merced is seeking a highly skilled Academic Success Coach to join their EXCEL Program team. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will provide academic coaching and advising to targeted students, working closely with Natural Sciences Academic Advisors and other campus academic advisors to develop and implement comprehensive student support services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of academic coaching and advising principles, as well as experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. They will be responsible for providing administrative support to the EXCEL Program, including maintaining tracking systems, researching and summarizing information, and preparing reports. Additionally, they will be responsible for updating the program's website content and drafting correspondence and communications to internal and external units.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty. They will be able to prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic coaching and advising to targeted students, including those who are at-risk of academic dismissal or notice.
  • Work closely with Natural Sciences Academic Advisors and other campus academic advisors to develop and implement comprehensive student support services.
  • Provide administrative support to the EXCEL Program, including maintaining tracking systems, researching and summarizing information, and preparing reports.
  • Update the program's website content and draft correspondence and communications to internal and external units.
  • Assist students with all facets of support, including resources, guidance, and opportunities for success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience/training.
  • Advanced degree from an accredited university (preferred).
  • One year of directly related, progressively responsible experience in a student services job function, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
