Position Overview:
As a Cardiac Imaging Specialist, you will collaborate with physicians to support patients undergoing various invasive cardiac procedures. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the highest standards of care during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Certification, and Licensure:
For candidates in West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland:
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.
- Current licensure as a Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technologist in West Virginia or the applicable state.
- ACLS certification to be obtained within six months of employment.
- Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV) certification.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a Cardiac/Vascular Interventional Lab.
- Proficiency in three or more specialties as defined by departmental standards.
For candidates in Pennsylvania:
- ARRT certification in Radiography.
- ACLS certification to be obtained within six months of employment.
- CI, VI, or CV certification.
- Five years of experience in a Cardiac/Vascular Interventional Lab.
- Proficiency in three or more specialties as defined by departmental standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education, Certification, and Licensure:
- Completion of a Dysthymia course through WVU Medicine within one year of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
Core Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role and may include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and administering medications under direct physician orders for procedures.
- Maintaining sterile techniques while preparing necessary supplies for procedures.
- Monitoring patients' ECG and blood pressure, documenting changes, and communicating with the physician.
- Coordinating procedural schedules with patient and physician needs.
- Acting as part of the code team, initiating resuscitative measures under physician supervision.
- Documenting all procedures accurately and assisting with inventory management.
- Providing guidance to radiography students in clinical settings.
- Participating in departmental process improvement initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, candidates must:
- Be able to sit for extended periods.
- Lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
Working Environment:
Employees may encounter various environmental factors, including:
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, and toxic chemicals.
