Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at SmithFoods Orrville Inc. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of water treatment processes and a commitment to ensuring the highest level of water quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain the waste water treatment facility and its processes to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Collect and document samples for laboratory testing, and interpret results to make adjustments to operational procedures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to treatment plant operations and testing.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on treatment plant equipment and systems.
  • Communicate effectively with regulatory officials, production associates, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Collaborate with production associates to assess and maximize waste reduction at the processing facilities.
  • Provide end-of-shift reporting to keep all areas informed of daily treatment plant operations.
  • Research and implement new technologies and equipment to enhance treatment plant efficiency and capacity.
  • Provide remote monitoring and on-call support to respond to emergencies and breakdowns.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of Class 1 OEPA Wastewater certification or ability to acquire within a year of employment.
  • Specialized training in water/wastewater treatment plant operations.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in operation of a wastewater treatment plant.
Working Conditions
  • Work in a treatment plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, solvents, electrical energy, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Work in or with water and/or wastewater in confined spaces.
  • Work and/or walk on various types of surfaces, including slippery or uneven surfaces.
Physical Demands
  • Sufficient physical ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Reports directly to the Sr. Group Leader Maintenance.
Travel
  • Limited to no travel is expected for this position.
