Job Title: Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining control systems for PLC-controlled pharmaceutical package inspection machinery. This position will develop and maintain control software and hardware for automation machines sold to the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop control systems for pharmaceutical inspection machinery
  • Programmable logic controller (PLC) programming (A/B, Siemens)
  • Human-machine interface programming (InteractX, FactoryTalk, Wonderware InTouch)
  • Familiarity with SQL databases
  • Troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems using various types of test equipment
  • Ensure machines operate most economically and efficiently
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical and safety codes
Documentation and Service:
  • Support the development and maintenance of quality system documents
  • Internal quality documents include software design review protocols, software test protocols, and version control
  • External customer documents, including Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, Installation Qualifications, Operational Qualifications, and Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Develop customer turnover packages, including disaster recovery instructions
  • Support global service function
  • Develop customer training material
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs for PLC and HMI systems
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7-10 years of Automation controls engineering preferred
  • Domestic and International travel required (3-6 trips annually)
