About the Role

The CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care. You'll provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Your knowledge of age-appropriate care will ensure that residents receive the best possible care related to their physical and psychological needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining and recording vital signs.
  • Provide psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed.
  • Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
  • Communicate resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
  • Assist with wellness and recreational programs and encourage residents to participate.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
  • Satisfactorily completes yearly department-specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.
